Throughout the day we’ll go on a thrilling game drive keeping our eyes peeled for wildlife such as buffaloes, giraffes, impalas baboons and even the elusive tree climbing lions if luck is on our side. If we’re lucky enough to visit during the season you might witness millions of flamingos turning the shoreline into a mesmerizing spectacle. After a day of exploration, we’ll head back, to your camp. After enjoying breakfast you’ll embark on an adventure, to the captivating wildlife sanctuary known as the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. This safari destination is a must visit! Here you’ll have the opportunity to witness over 25,000 large mammals. It’s not uncommon to spot all of the renowned ‘Big Five’ animals (buffalo, elephant, rhino, lion, and leopard) in one day. The Ngorongoro crater itself is a UNESCO World Heritage site spanning over 260 km2 (100 miles). This awe inspiring natural wonder was created millions of years ago when a colossal volcano erupted and collapsed upon itself. Today it stands as the world’s volcanic caldera and is often referred to as “Africa Eden.” As you journey through the Ngorongoro Highlands you’ll eventually reach the rim of this crater before descending 610m (2000 feet) down into its magnificent floor to begin your extraordinary safari experience. Later in the afternoon you’ll make your way back to your hotel, in Arusha or Kilimanjaro Airport.
